Disclaimer for UIF Portal — an independent information guide, not the UIF or the Department of Employment and Labour.

Independent guide — not the UIF

UIF Portal is an independent information guide. It is not the Unemployment Insurance Fund, the Department of Employment and Labour, UIF Online, or uFiling, and it is not a government website. It has no affiliation with, and no endorsement from, any of those bodies. The UIF name and the names of official portals are used only to describe the subject of the guides, and official logos are never reproduced on this site. Nothing on this site comes from the Fund, and nothing here speaks for the Fund.

Information only

Everything on this site is general information, not advice. It is not legal, financial or tax advice, and it is not a substitute for the official rules, the legislation, or a decision by the Fund. If you need advice about your own situation, speak to the UIF, a Labour Centre, or a qualified adviser. If a guide and the official position differ, the official position is correct.

Accuracy and verification

Guides are researched from official sources first, and where a figure, a deadline or a procedure could not be verified against an official source in the research pass, the guide says so — sometimes by attributing the figure to the source that reported it, sometimes by showing both sides of a conflict. The conflicts readers should know about include the claim deadline (the UIF Diary 2026 states 12 months from termination for unemployment claims, while at least one detailed independent guide states six months and earlier official wording has cited six months), the earnings ceiling and the benefit rates (reported by secondary sources, not verified directly against the Act in the research pass), the credit-day accrual rate, and the salary schedule form number (UI-2.7 versus UI-2.8). Do not treat a reported figure as settled fact until you have confirmed it with the UIF or the relevant official source, and do not rely on a single figure where two are shown — apply as early as possible and confirm the deadline with the Fund.

Calculators are estimates

Contribution results are exact arithmetic on the salary you enter. Benefit, payout, maternity and duration results are estimates only. The real amount depends on facts only the Fund holds — your declared earnings history, your credit days, your benefit type and your eligibility — and the Fund's decision is the one that counts. An estimate is a planning aid, not a promise, and it should never be used to promise a payment to a creditor or to sign a financial commitment.

No guarantee of outcomes

Following a guide on this site does not guarantee that a claim will be approved, that a payment will be made, or that it will be made by a particular date. Approval and payment are separate steps, and a claim can be approved while its payment is still being processed. Payout timelines reported in secondary sources conflict with each other, and no single figure is confirmed. Always check your own position on UIF Online or USSD, and keep a record of every submission, reference number and conversation with the Fund.

Links and third parties

Links to official websites are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites, and we are not responsible for their content, their availability, or what they collect from you. Be careful online: only use the official portals, never pay for UIF services, and never share your password, your ID number or your banking details with anyone other than the official channels. If someone contacts you claiming to be from the UIF and asks for money or for your login details, it is a scam — the Fund does not work that way.
