Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for UIF Portal — what we collect, what we do not collect, and your choices.

What this policy covers

UIF Portal is an independent information website about the Unemployment Insurance Fund in South Africa. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, what we do not collect, and the choices you have. It applies to every page on this site, including the guides, the tools and the contact form.

Information we do not collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, your South African ID number, your passwords, your banking details, your claim reference numbers or your contribution history anywhere on this site. The calculators, checkers and finders on this site run entirely in your own browser: the salary, dates or answers you type into a tool stay on your device and are never sent to us or to anyone else. Nothing you enter into a tool is stored, shared or used to identify you.

If a tool ever asked you for an ID number or banking details, do not enter them. A genuine UIF calculator only needs salary and contribution history, and a genuine status check happens only on the official portals — UIF Online or USSD — never on an information website.

The contact form

If you use the Contact Us form, you give us the name, email address and message you type. That form is not connected to an email address yet, so messages are shown as received on screen and are not delivered or stored anywhere for now. Do not include ID numbers, passwords, banking details or claim reference numbers in a message. Once an email address is connected, the form will send your message to us so we can reply, and we will not use your details for anything else — we will not sell them, share them, or add you to any list.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies and does not run analytics that follow you across the web. The site may set nothing at all in your browser beyond what your browser itself needs to display the pages. If that changes — for example if a privacy-respecting analytics tool is added so we can see which guides people actually use — this policy will be updated, the change will be dated here, and the tool will be named.

Links to other websites

Guides on this site link to official websites, such as UIF Online, uFiling, the Department of Employment and Labour and SARS. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for what they collect or how they use it. Read their policies before you log in or enter personal information there, and only ever log in through the official address — never through a link in an SMS, an email or a social media message.

Children

This site is written for adults dealing with employment, claims and contributions. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the contact form should not be used to send a child's personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site changes — for example when the contact form is connected to an email address, or if an analytics tool is added. The current version is the one published on this page, and the last update date is shown below. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy. If you have a question about this policy, use the Contact Us form.
